After the disaster that was "traffic management" at last years Leeds Festival and promises it wouldn't happen again, I can't believe that this years improved plan appears to be to completely close the A64 eastbound to through traffic from near the Windmill Roundabout at Seacroft all the way to Bramham crossroads for over 24 hours from midnight on Thursday 27th August. Whilst this might mean festival goers aren't directed via Colton and Crossgates, surely there will simply be gridlock going the other way as thousands of ordinary motorists attempt to get to the diversionary route via the M1/A1(M) by going along the Ring Road?Is this really the only alternative option? Once again the council claim there has been consultation with local residents. I'm a local resident and no-one has asked my opinion....Still, at least when Crossgates gets gridlocked again this year, all those motorists will have ample time to admire "Gruens Gates" on the roundabout!

No, no - they've thought about that - all the signs I've seen say,                                  'Find alternative route'So, with all that help, the folk passing through who don't know the area will be driving round and round looking fo it and probably end up coming back down Ypork Road and getting stuck in the Festival. That said, I don't know what else they could propose, 'cept maybe send everything in the back gate through Thorner

The obvious route for all festival traffic was short sightedly removed when the A1 was upgraded and the exit at Bramham (not Bramham crossroads, the next one north) was removed. This could / should have been left in place, even coned off if need be (when not required) so it could be used to direct festival traffic straight off the A1 into the estate and also used for the Bramham horse trials. If you drive up the A1 you can see where the slip roads have been ripped up and grassed over.

Well the signs are already up on the various matrices westbound on the M62 as you approach Gildersome warning of delays expected from the 26th to 29th???? Those of you screaming about congestion should bear in mind this is a site close to a decent road network, especially when other people are going on about the absence of a concert venue within the city, especially when you take into consideration the inability of the roads in said city centre to cope with either a standard evening rush hour and are gridlocked if there's a 20twenty game between Yorkshire and Lancashire on at Headingley. And of course it gives those community service people something to do the week afterwards
