today ive just seen they are beginning the demoltion of the sandford arms.the grassy baking behind the pub going down broad lane underneath is a very large air raid shelter.it will be interesting if they are going to excavate the shelter.when we were kids in the 50s the entrance was broken into and some big lads very daring ,not me climbed down and walked about.i just looked down and saw a sign pointing to the tiolets.it was sealed up shortly afterwards.i wonder if any artifacts will be found.unfortunately i,ll be out of the country for next two weeks .hope someone will keep us informed

the shelter is under the big grass bank going down broad lane behind the pub .i assume if they are demolishing the pub they will also excavate the shelter behind the pub
