Hi allJust started working in Leeds again after an absence of many years and will most likely find myself in some interesting places. Got some good pics of strange tunnels under Leeds but can't attach them as they are too big. Any tips for a silver surfer to get these on please?

Best tip I got was to search your machine for snipping tool. This allows you to screen capture photos - this! etc and it is all less pixxies and loads ok.See pic

I like
http://www.getpaint.net/ for photo editing. If you're on BT Broadband you get a free Flickr Pro account although it isn't widely advertised. Just sign in with your BT Broadband email address and password. Once you've done that, go to
http://www.flickr.com/account/prefs/scr ... m=personal so you can have links like
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mhoulden/7126296961/ rather than ones with @ symbols that confuse the board software.

brilliant tips guys. Going to try the Flikr thingy so here goes.I was recently mooching in the cellar of a business on Commercial Street in Leeds and found a rusty ol steel door set into the wall. A few tugs and it opened to reveal a brick lined void and what appears to be two bricked up tunnels that would run under commercial street in the general direction of boar lane. Anyone got any idea what they are? There also looked to be a bricked up window down there!

I don’t know if this is relevant or not but just in case this is in a BBC Local History for Leeds webpage
http://tinyurl.com/978um (last updated in September 2007).“It is true that in some parts, especially of the city centre, the street level has risen substantially. When workers were relaying sewers in Commercial Street for the Landmark Leeds project they found that the highway is a entire storey above the earlier street level. Workers were able to see the original frontages of old buildings - including a hotel with a wrought iron staircase still intact.” PS. I wonder if the last bit in particular is true?

Now that's interesting! Maybe I was stood next to an old shop window there then- pretty cool. The tunnels are still intriguing me though. The electricity cable disappears into the brickwork- maybe I should discreetly chip a bit away to peek inside!Thank you for your help on this. I'm sure I'll be in many more deep, dark places so I'll keep the camera handy!
