Its not so much taht its a weir but the remnants of the man made medieaval dam built and maintained to divert part of the Aire to power Kings Mill.Anyway i have seen Salmon in the Aire on the other side of the weir.Still in the tin,still in the trolley.

In the report it states "Fisheries officers will climb aboard to venture down an unexplored stretch of the River Aire for the very first time". I wonder if it is true that it is unexplored?. If it is possible to do a through trip from start to end I would love to do it to see what is there close up. Even a shorter trip if a full through trip is not possible would still be exciting. Any sort of trip along the river under the station could be a great tourist attraction.

In that case it seems odd that this site is as unexplored as the rain forests of Borneo...

Hopefully will get some photos later this week of the remains of where there was a waterwheel,The stone settings are still there and also a underground room the size of a football pitch! with doors leading off. Very interesting apparantly ...cant say too much at the minute but will hopefully get the pictures posted ....but the clue is it fits in very well with this thread.

The underground room the size of a football pitch sounds similar to the one at the end of Granary Wharf that hosted a few gigs a few years ago. They were bonded warehouses, I believe (probably from a thread on here).
