Just to reiterate what Phill advised, although we had a trouble free exploration down from Meanwood Park, we did attract some attention from people wandering around Clarence Dock. I did assure some ' interested onlookers' that we were perfectly o.k.Perhaps with things as they are at the moment with the high profile news coverage about folk falling in the river, if anyone has ideas on making the trip they shoulda) remember its not a venture to be taken lightly anywayb) consider postponing it for a few monthc) don't do it when Clarence dock area is likely to be at its busiest with Royal Armouries visitors etc

Another post was deleted from Secret Leeds as it was those young ones that caused the Police, and fire service to attend. There is a whole can of worms to open up should anything go wrong, and that means for people who have been down in the past, which should the media get hold of, it also leads back to Secret Leeds itself. The Meanwood culvert isn't a one way ticket, if the ride is taken, then there is no getting off at the end. Anyone venturing down there should expect to retrace there steps underground, there are plenty of non public places to get out of unseen in the outdoor sections further upstream.

I've just found this video on youtube showing how it really is under there. This is taken under the Railway viaduct near the bus station. The spooky noises within the brick built barrel tunnel are enough to wake the deadhttp://www.youtube.com/user/amg2891#p/u/4/on0C8DSU68M

Excellent comprehensive thread. The use of maps and overground lines is helpful. Leeds Met ought to give you a gong for that. This qustion and respones have been added to the Scotland Mill thread for continuity -Accepting that there will never be one correct answer, did you/does anyone know how many Mills Adel / Meanwood Beck powered?Just the few up-stream are Adel Mill, Scotland Mill, Cornmill Parkside Road, (tannery?) Weetwood Paper Mill. And that's just to the Hollies.

Jogon wrote: chameleon thanks.Seems to be right region. I must hone my search skills. Search is difficult Jogon - alot is simply memory, and even then the thrreads you want can prove evasive. Why not repost you question there and then edit it out of the message above?Weekend responses can be slow but there might be something pop-up later.

Rather than using the SL search function I often find that doing a search something like say "Scotland Mill"+"Secret Leeds" in a search engine (eg Google) can be a great help in cutting down the number of finds. Then using the 'Find' function in that thread can quickly bring up what is needed. The 'Find' function is probably brought up via Tools (the tooth-like ring thingy!). I hope that makes some sort of sense!

Yes Leodian, often better than our in-built search and more refined usually!Using the browser find tool makes life easier too as you say, I went right through every page in the Skulls thread recently looking for something, in a matter of minutes
