A class 40 parked up on the near side of the stabling point in the early 80's not long after all the track work was lifted leaving no trace behind.

Glad it kicked started the old memory card into action...Yes i just think the whole area is from the steam days. Everything railway related was extensive in those days!

Aye, be around that bit. funnily enough, I didn't spot that bit on my google earth?? I suppose that all that then, belongs to British rail, or whatever their called nowadays. Shame the only way up there is just beyond the railway bridge, but that mean crossing the tracks and I'm getting to old to be dodging loco's nowadays!! Maybe you lot at the LHES could get yoursens up there, with all the prior permissions etc to photograph it for future generations? Cheers.

This is a photo I took today (Nov 25 2011) from the canal side looking into what I think is the tunnel subject in this thread. Whatever is there certainly looks interesting and seems to be seperate from the nearby Dark Arches. Acceess/egress ways are locked from the canal side and looked like they may have not been used for a long time. There is also a locked door at the end near to the Dark Arches.
