Hi Si, Friday lunch is fine by me. Let me know when you are able. By the way, congratulations in your eventual success in finding gainful employment. A touch of the Bruce and the spider methinks!

My flickr pictures are herehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/Because lunacy was the influence for an album. It goes without saying that an album about lunacy will breed a lunatics obsessions with an album - The Dark side of the moon!

Have strength man

Aargh, aargh, and thrice aargh! ( to coin a phrase ) On sorting out maps to take to Si for him to work his magic on I find that I have misidentified the site of the mill pond. It was NORTH of the dogleg, and started immediately south of the Skinner Lane bridge, which may be useful to Phill's interest in the area round the later margarine factory. In addition I have noted that the stream from Beckett Street is shown as extending back parallel to Torre road as far as the Lupton Avenue area in Baines and Newsome's map of 1834.Hopefully Si will be able to post images of the appropriate areas of these maps to make things clear, so the thread doesn't have to suffer yards and yards of my convoluted verbiage!

And this is Jim's 1835 Baines and Newsome map. Blue dots show side stream from Lupton Avenue.
