Regarding the coal mine, In one of the upper floors there was a rather bare room with a single window ,and in that room was one single exhibit,a model of a working coal mine.The model was about 8foot high by 5 foot wide and was a through section of a mine showing miners going about there work above and below ground,descending the shaft in cages ,pulling tubs of coal along the roadway ect. I wonder if they still have this exhibit at Yeadon.

The museum was replaced by the Midland Bank building (Now the HSBC). That building goes down two or three floors below ground I think, with vaults and plant rooms. I was taken down the 'mine' by my school, I seem to remember the walls of the 'mine' being made from something like plaster or fibreglass.

A vague memory I have is of there being a stuffed tiger there, which was moved to the museum near the Town Hall. I remember it for the fact that I am an hopeless artist, but managed to make a decent drawing of the tiger.
