It says five on Hunslet Moor thats a surprise i can only remember one i wander where the others were.Is a trench shelter what we would call an air raid shelter.
No matter were i end my days im an Hunslet lad with Hunslet ways.

Not the same as the known surviving shelters. Google "trench shelter WW2" for full details. I hadn't come across them before, very interesting.

It looks like a trench shelter was not bomb proof,it looks like it could have been more for defense thank god we never had to use them.

Hi Fred I did not know that, i know there was some damage done in Leeds. I know there was bomb damage near the Woodpecker pub i was told they were after the gas holder near Quarry Hill flats i dont know if that was true or not, they seemed to know where the hot spots were.

Flaxton terrace is a definite as I remember playing in the bombed out area the house occupied, as a kid.
X roughly marks the spot with the more modern view shown above.
