Yep..I got some tiles from there too a good while ago. All the stalls are still intact arent they? I seem to remember tiles on show up there... I'm quiet tempted to get a picture inside...

Hi Drapsey. I can't remeber the exact street. I was up Burley. I think it's deffinately the mecca up there for old painted signs. It was off Cardigan road probably Mayvilles/Harlods there's numerous ones in the back streets.

I'll see if I can track it down - presumably its not on a pub but an off-licence or former off-licence. Although I.m not (quite ) old enough to remember the Kirkstall Brewery I remember when the building was still brewing(now student flats of course) - It belonged to Whitbreads and they brewed Trophy there until the late 70's . The Bridge was the 'brewery tap'. I worked at Clover around that time and if the wind was in the right direction you got that yeasty brewery smell wafting down the Hill. In between Kirkstall Brewery and whitbreads it belonged to Duttons - a Blackburn firm (I think) after which the Duttons on Queenswood Drive is named , who were bought up in turn by Whitbreads

Good man Drapsey..You know your stuff. Yes it was an off licence just off Cardigan road. A sort of triangular shaped corner. I was going daft that day walking in circles. I lost my bearings

Talking of 'Trophy' has reminded me of a T.V add of the 70;s - some guys in a pub suddenly burst into song (like you do):"WHITBREAD!! BIGHEAD!!! Trophy Bitter - the pint that thinks its a QUART!!!!"Advertising was much simpler in those days.....

We were allowed to have a sense of humour in those days Drapsey. We can't even celebrate xmas these days incase it offends anyone! Bring back comedians & the retro 70's i say!!!!
