Cheers LeeRatBag, that explains it being preserved. I've seen a few now that have emerged from behind billboards, then disappeared again. There's a great Tetley huntsman at the bottom end of Woodsley Road (actually on Westfield Road) that is now covered again. On thinking it through there are probably clauses in the leases of these buildings that allow advertising on the walls. It makes you wonder what else lies behind other billboards. I'm sure there must be some real treasures hidden away still.

Eagle eyed spotters may have seen this old 'cocoa house' beauty on the roof in Lower Briggate. (you may need good eyes here)

There was a leaflet drop advertising the Regent cinema but because the area was densley populated by back to back houses the sign was painted on the roof for the pilot to identify it.

Skeltons Butchers on Armley Town St has quite a nice old-style painted sign on the side of the building, a bit flaky but very traditional looking. There's a genuine old one just up the road on the west side of Wortley Road, I spotted it today when being driven along Town St, but wasn't close enough to read what it says. There's remnants of a few others in the area too, I'll have to get out with the camera at some point.
