Hi Tay - I can rember when that was still a shop. The old man who ran it was called Harold and my mother inlaw and I used to drink with him on Sunday evenings in the Mexborough pub - now the 3 Hulats.I remember a painted sign near Hyde Park Corner. I think it said Taylor Paints or something similar - in dark blue with white edging. You could see it quite clearly on the end of those shops near the busstops which still stand on the edge of Woodhouse Moor; there were some public loos and I think tennis courts nearby.

For the last few months whilst driving down Dewsbury Road, the Tetleys club near the old Parkside has lost its signage and under is "the Boston Cafe Ballroom" (sorry no pics but will get some). Spoke to my mum and this used to be the in place to be on a Saturday night, and the she and my Dad spent their courting days there.

The paint is a little clearer and it says LILS Cafe I'm quite amazed at this old Lils Cafe with the Japanese style writing. I dissmised it as a new sign untill i found a picture of 'Cafe Jap' in Leeds dating back to 1903.... There must have been some oriental influence even in those early days...
