And here's an amazing pic of the sign being painted - the man on the left is Harry Kingston, who apparently owned the signwriting firm responsible.

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

I've never seen one like this - it appears to have a 'cavalier' type character, (like the one McEwan's use), saying "OYEZ! There's no better Beer than BYB"I don't know if they used this 'cavalier' much - I've never seen it before - it certainly never became an icon like Tetley's huntsman or Melbourne's courtier. To add yet more interest to this pic - in the foreground is Hunslet Cricket Clubs ground, which was on the opposite side of Lowfields Rd to the Football ground. At a guess he's not a cavalier but a town crier.

My Dad worked there in the 70's, they had great family days which involved fairs, rides, sports, factory tours and the like. I used to play for the football team when they had the best pitch in local non-league footy. We used to walk down a nettle strewn path behind the Parcel Force depot to get to out floodlit training pitch (still there and over grown and can be seen from the road leading to the old Skelton Grange site before you get to the river...http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ie= ... 2&t=h&z=18
