That used to be the Crown & anchor/Rose & crown? pub years ago! reputedly haunted by 2 army recruits who suffercated in the hay loft! There was a deaths head carved into some stone around the back to commerate it. It's been removed now & the gate blocks the way to the back. I'll try dig out the picture! It looks gruesome!! The Crown sign is nothing to do with the Crown pub name tho. It used to be a decorating shop later & was advertising Crown wallpaper by coincidence!

The LL cafe sign appeared to have some age to it. Like you I think it appears to be chinese in style.

Yeah that made me wonder it's age. It does look old-but then again it doesn't. i certanly can't remember a cafe there!!! Have you tied resizing your pics with the windows image resize tool? It takes a few secs to download http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... rtoys.mspx

This photo is of a building alongside the Corn Exchange that had once been the Rose & Crown the sign dates from later when it was a paint shop

Photographed this one just off Harrogate Rd. Seems and odd combination in one shop FISH, FRUIT and FLOWERS
