I'm sure there is a thread about the Oakwood Clock in it's own right, but I can't find it.So, this seemed like the next most appropriate place to post this:http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/n ... -6500563It seems the good people of Oakwood have finally raised the funds to carry out the repairs. No mention of a certain large supermarket chain who were linked with providing some funding as part of obtaining planning consent to rebuild their nearby store though - I wonder if they ever did chip in, or if it was a repeat of the Seacroft Grange carry on?

Rather pessimistic Davey - but I'm with you on this one!

I have received this reply today which confirms the use of a little journalistic licence as suspected -'When we issued our press release the word chime had inverted commas ("chime"). Unfortunately the YEP omitted them in their article'.CheersIainThis may be of interest also -http://www.oakwoodclock.co.uk/

TOUR DE ROUNDHAY - SUNDAYDear Friends and SupportersIt's Roundhay's big event this coming Sunday and we have a number of stalls and activities there to raise funds for the redevelopment of the Oakwood Clock area. Although the Clock restoration money is secure, we now have a fundraising target of £60,000 to improve the public space around it. Can you spare an hour or two on Sunday to sell raffle tickets on the stall between 12 and 5pm? We also urgently need a gazeebo and tables and people to help prepare the stalls between 9.30 and 11.30amCan you help? If you can, please drop me an email as soon as possible. Best wishesKate --------------------------------------Kate WaferOTRA MEMBERSHIP [email protected]
