Hello all!I have been hunting high and low for the answer to this but maybe someone on here may be able to help.Does anybody know how long the clock at the old Alf Cooke Printworks in Hunslet Road has not been working? Has it been decades, or just years? Thanks in advance!

Well if you look on Google streetview I would say one stopped at 9.45 and the other around 3.40. You're welcome.

Looks like it isn't stopped any more: http://www.leedscitycollege.ac.uk/index ... /According to http://companycheck.co.uk/company/02517393 Alf Cooke Ltd was dissolved around 1991-2 but I'm not sure when the printworks ceased operations. Presumably the clock stopped when they abandoned the place and switched off non-essential power. I cycle past it quite a bit and it's good to have something to bring some life back into the area. According to http://www.leedscitycollege.ac.uk/index ... rks-campus there will be various shops and restaurants on the site, and presumably evening classes as well, so hopefully it will attract more than just ladies of the night in the evenings. Might even have demand to reopen the Mulberry pub...

Other campuses (campii?) were always too much trouble to get to for the stuff I was interested in...The only fly in the ointment seems to be parking - precious little on site and the streets around it are already swamped with city centre workers taking advantage of the (in places) free all day parking...

I was a maintenance engineer at Alf Cooke from 1979 to 1987. It became Bemrose Cartons then Bonar Cooke Cartons then just Bonar Cartons. We often had to go up into the clock to correct the time. Inside it is one of the most ornate of buildings with the Alf Cooke logo (crown with an arrow) cast into every pillar. It was the only purpose built print company in the country and had a complete glass roof to aid the printers. I may have some pictures of the inside i'll try to dig out. Happy days and good memories.

There's a load of photos of the 2013 rebuilding on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PrintworksLeeds/photos_stream. I think they're public so you don't need an account to see them.
