Look at any leodis picture of the industrial areas of Leeds and you will see a forest of factory chimneys. Many of these remained standing long after they became obsolete but if you look round now there aren't many left.I've taken some pictures of what has become an endangered species.

www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messages.aspx ... tMessage=0 I do believe that there were 18 mills with chimneys in Morley and only 2 chimneys remain. The dreaded flat builders have built flats in all the currently available chapels and have taken to re-building previously demolished mills with fake mill look-alike buildings to house their "Luxury" apartments. You can't help but feel that one day the music will stop and it will be the developers who have apartment blocks in course of construction, or lots of unsold apartments at that instant that will cop for it. I always wondered how there were always lots of half built hotels in Mediterrranian resorts.
