SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

Hi all,I live about 100 yards from this large house which has been boarded up for a while. 'The Parksider' helpfully mentioned on here that the house was available.Does anyone know where I can get further info on who owns the house and what it is being sold for.Thanks in advance

Yes, it's on Dib Lane. From speaking to neighbours it has been boarded up for quite some time.'The Parksider'- I remember you saying it was 'available' - can you elaborate?

I know this thread has been dormant for a while, but this info may help someone in the future..."The Grange" and "Oakwood Grange" are two separate locations.Oakwood Grange was once a house, where the first moving footage was taken ("Roundhay Garden Scene", look it up!).The house is long gone, but there is a street in the same area with the same name. (Search for Oakwood Grange LS8 on Google Maps to see where it is.)Hope that helps someone!

Everyone is confusing The Grange with Fearnville House. The Grange Pub now stands on the site of The Grange house. This is further down Dib Lane on the same side as Fearnville House which is the mansion house that is now boarded up. The entrance to it is opposite the end of Hollin Park Terrace. As far as I know it is still owned by the council who are refusing to sell. A friend of mine wanted to buy it a few years ago and restore it to its former glory but the council would obviously rather see it in ruins which is scandalous.

You are correct chelan, the Dibb Lane buildings have been covered in several earlier threads, it is Fearnville House which persists through till today.Your remarks about it being retained rather than sold-on strike a familiar chord in relation to such places in Leeds.
