SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

I am really interested in a lot of these old buildings, tunnels, bunkers etc and wondered how you go about getting into them.Is it Illegal to go in to these places without permission first. If so who do you get permission from.What about if there is no lock on them and its just a matter of opening the hatch/door... I read somewhere once about some people that went around derilict buildings taking photos. Obviously they wore a hard hat and took precautions but it was all above board. They never mentioned that they needed special permissions to get in.There is an old school (Seacroft Green) down the road from me which is boarded up, and then there is the bunker at Berwick... I want to explore but don't know how to go about it.Thanks in advance for any help

I want to explore but don't know how to go about it.Thanks in advance for any help good question rob i think its a bit of a "grey area" lol i think the person who can answer that is philld secret leeds's own resident specialist in all things secret/hidden/dark lolmind you i haven't heard owt from him the last couple of days(he's probably on a secret mission somewhere deep below us) any how i think that if you work on the lines of "if they carnt see you they carnt hurt you" sort of thing it just might work!because if you ask for permission i dont think anyone will give it to on the grounds of health and safety n' all that!and talking about the bunker in berwick ??the owner once came on this web site and promised to let anyone who wanted to see it go down but then he just disappeared into thin air???????????????? probably fell down his bunker lol

There will allways be signsAnywhere else is just a "Civil Tort" (IE. a "wrong") and you can be held responsible in court for the monetary costs of any wrong you do.However it costs a lot of money to take someone to court to rectify a civil tort, and courts will not tolerate their time taken up by footling claims that trespassers have broken blades of grass by walking on them, or similar. So provided you do no actual, real, damage and leave without further ado when you are requested to you will be fine.

If you want to go round places and look at things perfectly innocently go ahead.the trouble with asking is distrusting types and ar$e covering meanies like to say "no".So just go ahead and enjoy your city....

Well Like Brandy says it's a bit of a grey area isn't it? We have squaters rights e.t.c. As long as there is no damage done or anybody is going equipped to cause any damage to enter property which we most certainly don't condone, then it's a matter of trespass between you & the owner which is a civil offence. They can ask you to leave and only if you refuse or are a pain in the butt can the police be called which they really don't want to get involved in anyway.. My advice is to quietly go about your business upsetting no one
