Hi rodis and welcome to Secret Leeds :).

It does look like it could be an interesting building. On enlarging a Google image over one door there is a crown and GR and a date that I cannot fully make out but seems to be 193?. On looking at the Old Maps UK website on a 1949 map there is a 'Telephone Repeater Station' that seems to be at that location.

If 193? then George VI would fit for 7, 8,9 and a little bit of 6. Weren't telephone operations part of GPO (General Post Office).; Post Office being part of Royal Mail and hence Royal insignia.

It belonged to the GPO until 1980 when British Telecom was created, it was basically an exchange if I recall.

Still is a telephone exchange. By one of the doors there's a sign that says "BT Premises. No trespassing."
