Does anyone have any information on the houses on Arley Street or any photographs they could share please?

Arley Street is one of the streets in Armley, which was in the area where there was a massive asbestos problem due to the local factory of J. W. Roberts in nearby Canal Road. The area affected was between Canal Road, Armley Road, Armley Park and Armley Park Road. The streets involved were the Aviarys, the Arleys, the Rombalds, the Cecils, the Salisburys and some other individually named streets. This area was on my beat when I first joined the Police in 1965. There is information about the area on the internet but not much information, regarding photographs, on Leodis.

As a result of the asbestos problem, many people died. I had a friend, who I played rugby with for many years, who lived in Aviary Street. He died at the age 48yrs., In 1984.
