SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

Renovation work is going on at City House at Leeds Rail Station after a long period when most of the tall City House was not being used. The first two photos here (which I took on July 13 2016) show views of the work currently going on. The third photo (which I took on August 11 2014) shows a view when City House was already little used, though it may look like it was in use.

Didn't they move everyone out refurbish it about 5 years ago and since then it's mainly been empty.

These are three photos that I took on September 1 2016 of the City House under renovation. The first is a rear view taken from the top of the Criterion Place multi-story car park off Swinegate (some of the roof of Leeds Station is also seen and part of Queens Hotel). The second shows a view from Bishopgate Street (part of the Neville Street bridge/tunnel is in view). The third may be an uncommonly seen view taken from the top of the car park and showing part of Leeds Station, City House and other buildings.

Thanks Leo. The southern side is a view I would see less often and I'm amazed at how much further it has progressed than the northern side. I think it is being renamed Platform and from architects renditions I have seen it looks like they plan to make the main station concourse roof transparent (glass?) as part of the project. I also saw something yesterday about plans to make the first half/two thirds of New Station Street more Pedestrian friendly by increasing footpath widths amongst other things.

Its also of note that Merrion House is undergoing a very similar transformation, although I believe PhaseII is to then hide some of it by building on what was the "courtyard" in front of what was a fair time ago the Pig'n'Whistle.
