Phill_d wrote: The one 'deeper in the woods' you refer to. Is it the top of the same bunker-or a completley different one? It's not actually no. The one I mean is sort of built into the side of a hill... From one side you approach it and end up right on top of it, then it drops off and that is the blocked up entrance (blocked by a rather large boulder if I remember rightly). There is a pretty big gully in front of it too... I can't think how to describe its location better... I think of all the entrances to the woods it may be closest to the one in the Buckstones, just as you come off King Lane... It's been a few years since I moved away though.I am REALLY shocked that the thing at the end of Nursery Lane is a bloody bunker! If I am thinkingof the right place it is right behind the bus shelter at the far corner of the school field right? I lived there for over 20 years and went to Allerton High school and always just figured that was an electrical generator type thing. I am sure me and my pals would have taken a much closer interest in it had we known the truth!

Have a look back through the thread and Phill_D explains the exact location. As you'll see, I made the same mistake as you and thought it was the sub-station.I can't believe that the legend of the bunker never made it into Allerton High School folklore. I too went to the school and never heard a single mention of it.

I would never have had a clue about that... Yeah, I am shocked nobody ever mentioned it all the time I was at school there. Crazy. What years were you at Allerton?

What years were you at Allerton?87-91. In the days before the waste ground was turned into a park and ride, and Britain's shortest cycle lane* was a glint in Leeds City Council's eye.*until the York Road one is measured
