Couldn't even access my own pictures on flickr last night as the site had the dreaded hic ups again! Here's the old beast Bucyrus in all it's glory!

Only managed to get to the headquarters of YAS/Thoresby society at Claremont House in Little Woodhouse.The building onits own is pretty interesting but the stuff they have got in there is tops.Apart from loads of stuff about Yorkshire there is an awful lot of stuff on old Leeds in the Thoresby society.Amongst loads of old maps and engravings and picturees(Phil D would have loved tose)there was also 3 Templar crosses (with origins and histories)and a piece of Ralph Thoresbys house stair bannister,not exactly exciting but this particular artefact was 17th century and the crosses probably older and considering we dont have many truly old bits in Leeds (with the exception of the 3 story timber building in Lamberts Yard and the 13th/14th century Cad Beeston) then these artefacts are quite important to our city,if it wasnt for Ralph Thoresby and some of his contemporaries (John Harrison etc) then it is quite possible that we would not have the Leeds we do today.

Well i hope you enjoyed the day csnosi, I looked at the fixture list & was pretty much disapointed with what was open. Nothing in my opinion worth looking at from outside never mind a behind the scenes look inside... all exept the Bucyrus erie dragline @ st Aidans of course! thankfully the heritage day lose was my gain as i had a great invite day behind the scenes look at Middleton railway. For some reason there application to open up for the heritage day neeeded to go to London four weeks earlier before it got approved & it some how got lost in the post so it never went ahead. I'll post some not open to the public pics & stuff tommorow! Nice railway though. I recomend a visit! who can resist a line that passes through belle isle blue bell woods? not me.. choo choo!

I hoped St Marks at Woodhouse would be open, but alas it was not.Yes the list was a let down,never mind ,see what next year brings.

Strange thing that st marks! Wasn't it used on the Beiderbecke affair? I dunno who you'd ask to open up that place these days.. i'd have a go if i knew...

I was fortuante enough to have a brief look inside St Mark's a few weeks ago. The only thing worth photographing were the stained glass windows, nothing else there really apart from the resident pigeons who haved moved in!

St Mark's was one of the Million Act churches, built shortly after the end of the Penninsular War. It finally closed it doors for worship around 2000/2001.
