I'm surprised that no-one has started a thread for this yet. I was wandering around Leeds this lunchtime and thought there are so many buildings that are quite different and unusual.Everyone knows the Town Hall and the Civic Hall, Markets, Corn Exchange and Library buildings, but I was wondering if we could create a 'league table' of what people think are the best buildings in Leeds and why. There are so many hidden gems out there. I start the ball rolling with the old "Scottish Union & National Insurance Company" offices on Park Row for it's age and presence on the street...If no-one is interested I will retire (un)gracefully from the thread.

Without a shadow of a doubt mine is the old medical school on Thoresby place. I used to have some pics somewhere. Fantastic place with a great interior. I especially like the huge anatomy disecting room with shed light windows in the roof so they can have a good old look inside them pickled corpses! :-/

I know it's listed as one of the 'obvious' choices at the beginning of the thread, but I have to give my vote to the Town Hall. It's one of the greatest buildings in Europe, not just Leeds.

Yeah but not knocking my own city here munki. Every Northern town of any wealthy importance has a town hall to match Leeds would it be fair to say?

I'm with Munki on this one! Not many towns with a town hall as impressive as Leeds!

I'm rather fond of the Brunswick Building, which I think is threatened with demolition?
