Leodis are asking for help to identify the location of this picture:
http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... PLAY=FULLI think it's the now demolished Eastern Street just off Tong Toad at Whingate junction. The only evidence I've got is that the cross roads are out of alignement in a 'herringbone' layout rather than a grid and the yard on the end of the terrace on the other side of the road running across the picture, which I think is Whingate Terrace, in this picture.
http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... AY=FULLI'm not aware of many 'end of terrace' yards. Other suggestions have been made that either still exist or dont match the Godfrey maps. Can anyone help?Cheers.

Could it be Tadcaster Street?, just a couple of streets away from Eastern Street? The layout looks right, the street name on the pic of Eastern Street has it on one line, if you look at the pic on Leodis the street name is on two lines.Just a thought.

Hmmmm, it could be, but my gut feeling is that you'd see more of the large back to back on the end of the terrace. I might be wrong.
