One street away from St Aidens on Roundhay Road.I can find no positive reference to it, only anecdotal.Obvious that it must look a lot different now with the front being extended.http://goo.gl/maps/ydpTC

Don't know if it was a co-op. But the bathroom shop used to be a Les Manning diy. he always used to have a image of himself in a blue suit holding a guitar on all his shops

A view of it, sometime in the 50's, before the "steeple" was removed, showing the original shop windows.http://flic.kr/p/j2bbo9

There's the edge of it on this photo from Leodis:One of the comments at http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL says that it used to be the co-op butchers and grocers store. I found it quite alarming seeing those photos from 1980-1 where all the shops on Roundhay Road are boarded up against the riots because I lived there at the time. In October 1980 I was 2 so it's not surprising I don't remember it very well.

The 1916 Kellys directory says that it was then the Co-op butchers & drapers. An unusual mix

Hello everyone, not posted for a while but read every day.I can tell you that this building was definitely a co-op in the mid 60's. I lived at 8 Elford Place at the time which is the street seen in the pic, Back Elford Place was right next to the Co-op. I used to go there for me mam, cant remember the divvy number though, wish I could.
