The old Midland Bank at the junction of Boar Lane and Bishopgate Street next to City Square has mentions in SL but, as far as I'm aware, there are no close-up views of the plaques. To my surprise there also does not seem to be any in the Leodis website. I took photos of the plaques on September 10 2013 and shall post them after this post. The bank was originally the headquarters of the Yorkshire Banking Company (YBC). The following link is to a photo of the building in Leodis dated 25 November 1899. In the description it states the plaques "depict the coat of arms of prominent towns and cities" where the YBC had other branches. http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL

This is a close-up of the plaque facing Boar Lane and furthest from City Square of the 3 plaques on that side.

This is the middle plaque on the Boar Lane side.If it can be done I've not been able to work out how to add more than one photo from those on my computer to only one post, so I apologise for having to do a post for each plaque.

Finally, this is the main feature over the doorway that faces City Square. In the description to the 25 November 1899 photo in Leodis it states of this feature"The City of Leeds insignia is above the door showing the three owls, three stars and the fleece".I hope the photos are of interest.

The fence has a stylised YB in the metalwork. Pic on 'signs of old leodis' thread.
