Hello there i was looking in kirkgate mkt other day and was reading the various historical notices they have around the place one incluuding a map which shows the market site before built on and adjacent to it is a massive piece of land just called north hall takes up nearly half of leeds so im guessing there must be more info on this somewhere many thanks poloP.s after reading the ludgate thread im guessing the ludgate hill wouldve been the old boundary / entrance to what was the vicarage grounds back then seems like the only explanation

Right ive found the map with the north hall on and i do apologise its actually on the bar stones map (the one outside the parish church) which is a significant error because it puts it in a completley different time. However the north hall, still i cant seem to find anything about. Its not as big as i seem to have previously thought but still a considerable size. It stretches from kirkgate to lady lane then all over what wouldd be quarry hill.Im wondering if it belonged to a well known high status family of the time or something similar.P.s im not exactly sure how to post pics but i can mail it to someone if anyone knows how.

Thankyou ever so much uncle mick. I knew about rockley hall but had never researched it thoroughly enough to realise the places were one and the same many thanks again and that other article has made fascinating reading theres reference to the quaker burial ground in there aparently near an orchard.
