The gate post at one time belonged to a bank that stood on the corner of Goodman Street and Hunslet Road. That was before the layout of Hunslet Road was altered, and that's why Goodman Street appears to be a dead end. Obviously the new road layout and flyover bisect the road, but that's where Goodman Street always finished. The building on the corner of Goodman Street is marked as a bank for many years. Your gatepost will have roughly been where I've marked the red cross. It appears it was a triangular shaped yard with no doubt an outside w.c. I can't find a photo of the actual bank, but this is as close as it gets. It shows the building on the corner of Neven Street just before the bank. The gatepost will have been around where I've marked the cross, but I think it's a few feet away just out of shot. The archive photo details from Leodis..Undated, View looks from Goodman Street onto two properties on Nevin Street, number 31b on the left, followed to the right by number 31. These two properties had once been one, the premises of a laundry run by William Ogle. On the right is a boot and shoe repairs which occupies number 31 Nevin Street but is listed as number 6 Goodman Street run by Christopher Young. Adverts for Scotts Porage Oats and Nugget and Cherry Blossom polishes are visible.

Thanks again the post does stick out like a sore thumb if you see it today. I notice the spelling of porridge has changed over the years.
