Last year I read a request for information on the Manor House, here is what I sent.Hi there,I remember the house well, before moving to the lakes I lived on Sherburn Road, sadly I have never come across pictures of the house, it was used as a house for problem teens later in life, behind it in the woods it had an air raid shelter, behind that was a great big house, really run down, an old couple would sit in the cast iron conservatory with stacks of old newspapers around them, in the drive sat a rusting jaguar and exotic plants grew all over the once splendid garden's it also had a coach house and stables.I would guess the Manor House had something to do with that estate at some point in its life. The fancy iron railings and gate were still there when I left Leeds as was the brick wall to the road, not the original, that was completely taken down when two trucks hit head on just outside the manor house and killed both drivers, many people have died in front of that house. It looked sinister with its bay window and fancy fascia boardings, don't think it had attic rooms but it had a big basement with rooms. It was such a large house, I remember the front well and you had to go up steps to the back door but thats all I can remember about the rear.Good luck with your search, if you do find pictures I would love to see them.PS, the lorry crash was sometime between 1987 89, pictures in the evening post showed some of the manor house as the crash was right outside there and the red lionAll the bestDaveThe reply I got was Hi DaveThanks for your memories, if I ever mange to collect enough information & photos I will post it onto the FB site. Lovely to hear all your fond memories.I set up a charity in 2009 ( Ls14 Trust) in Seacroft to help some of the more disadvantaged in the area.We are celebrating the queens jubilee at the Seacroft gala next year and looking for stories & memories from people who lived in the area over the decadesAny interesting stories would be welcomeThanksNicDoes anyone else remember the house? it was a lovely old building, spooky too
