Was asked recently if I knew of an egg vending machine which used to be on the side of the road at South Milford. I understand for the price of a couple of pence (old money) a fresh egg could be obtained. A local farmer over there owned and supplied the eggs.Over to you folks, couldn't be anything stranger.

IMOR, this has to be the daftest thread yet posted on here tho funnily enuff, I suddenly remember being told about that aeons ago! This forum cures old age memory loss, it seems? Scarey.Urban myth was that it was a local farmer who put one of his chickens in a box and when a punter put a coin in a slot, he'd scare the poor fowl into laying! I jest not, tho I never saw the thing. But I'm sure you will get some more informative replies!

like he was asked it on April 1st? Surely no egg would have surrvived the drop inside any machinery unless its landing was well padded.

I thought it crazy too, but there's more to life than some folk accept. Best urban myth I've heard for years. That's if it really is a myth?

Bring 'em back I say, especially if they're hard-boiled. Mmmm, with some salt and pepper on the side.I always thought chickens were egg vending machines really though.

Well poach my pickles!Just wait till I drop this to the chap who first asked. All we need is proof of one in South Milford.Another case of which came first the machine or the egg.
