At the top of BHD / KH there is a cute, small, old building/house. I remember it from when I lived in that area as a child in the 60's.It is so different from all the other houses around there and looks quite old. As a child I always thought of it as a "fairytale" house as it's just so cute.I cannot find out anything about the building but there must be something relating to it as it's so unusual and looks really old.Can anyone shed any light on it please?Thanks.Caron.

Thanks buffaloskinner. Now I know, (after 40 odd years) It's strange how these buildings always stay in your mind.I love the place. Always have done.

The lodge was a gatehouse for Kirkstall Grange which is now the Beckett Park campus of Leeds Met. There's a page about its history at http://www.leedsmet.ac.uk/about/history ... ritage.htm and their cultural studies department (which includes courses in history) will probably be a good place to start.

CardieOn the 'Otley Rd' that one has two lovely solid stone gateposts, just up past them is the odd green metal thing. Is it a horse water trough?

It is a horse trough for when the buses were horse drawn, far headingley was the terminus.
