St. Bridget's chapel/Ann Carr's chapel, Regent Street.

On page 390 of John Mayhall's 'Annals of Yorkshire' vol III, for May 21 1871 it states:-"The building formerly known as as Ann Carr's chapel, in Regent Street, Leeds, recently occupied by the Temperence Union, was opened by the Bishop of Beverley, as a Roman Catholic chapel, dedicated to St. Bridget."I've been trying to find information on the chapel but have not been able to readily find any on such as Leodis, the Old-Maps UK website and other searches. I wonder if the building is still there but used for something else under a new name? If it is no longer there then does anyone know when it was demolished or anything more about that chapel? Thanks.

Hi LeoThis rings a bell. Or did I dream that?If it's the same Ann Carr, I thought it was a Methodist / Female Revivalist Chapel built 1825 (not RC). Same folks opened one in Holbeck 1826. Would tie in with Temperence as aims to 'convert you to teetotalism & then god'.Some mention of it being in "the Leylands", elsewhere of "Chapel House, Regent St".Is that Regent Street as in Roseville Rd & Garages? Or Regent St as in Chapel Allerton / handy for the Nags? I'd assume the former as back then Chap All was a wealthy leafy place.Good luck, + goodnight.

I don't know which Regent Street it is, though I just assumed it was that running by the Mabgate area as I did not know there was another Regent Street!

I don't know which Regent Street it is, though I just assumed it was that running by the Mabgate area as I did not know there was another Regent Street! As far as I know, the "Leylands" were a group of streets off North Street/Regent Street.
