Has anyone noticed the building in Park Square with the minarets? During the 60's my grandparents were caretakers there. I has an underground tunnel and quite a history.

I worked in Park Square during the 1960s and at the time the minarets were being dismantled. Only one was left before the planners and conservationists (there were a few in the 60s) noticed and as a result fibre glass/plastic copies were erected as replacements for the lost minarets.

The minarets were dismanteld illegallon the instructions of the secretary who worked for a company owned Barker Mills in Bradford. They were forced to replace the minarets. Prior to this the building was owned by Mr John Gaul. He loaned his yacht to Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco for their honeymoon. Mr Jonh Gaul (in the 1960's ) was a property tycoon.

Farbank:             Having worked for a spell in Park Square for a firm of old established solicitors. I can categorically state that the four corner 'minaret'style architectural embellishments, were actually just chimneys. from the buildings boiler house.!
