What sort of buildings/businesses occupied theland next to the Hillcrest Cinema before the Brown Harewas built ?It cropped up in conversation with mi Mam(92 next bless her)Apparently my brother when he was younger and living inLeeds used to use a rifle range somewhere near there and therepossibly also a printers.Search on Leodis for Hillcrest or rifle didn't reveal anything.

A brickworks stood on the site until the 1920's.1921 map.And then a picture house appears on the next available 1931 map. Ta da!The Hillcrest Picture Lounge

Thanks for the maps and info Phill & Mick.The club title ties in with a sew on fabric badge withcrossed rifles and LHRC embroided.Looking at todays street numbers on HarehillsLane,VOSA/DVLA is 386 and the next reported numberin use on postcode finder is 410 so Brown Hare sounds aboutright.Can't find anything on Leodis to tie in though.Thanks again.
