Hi draceana. You say "Now i have lived in meanwood for many years, have done quite abit bit of walking around here and have never come across this hidden village, there is no date on the post, do you thin they may be refering to meanwood park hospital before it was pulled down for new build?does anyone know anything about this please?".It does exist and it's in Adel. If you do a search under Eastmoor School you will find lots of information. Oddly, though I only live a few minutes walk away and have gone by the area many times on walks over the years I never went into the site until just a few months back. It may strictly be a tresspass to enter but with nobody around and no warning signs I had a look round. It is quite interesting, but the buildings are sealed off. The site is soon to be developed for housing and the church is proposed to become a gym. There is a secure unit next to the site, so if you do go to the site I recommend you do not take any photos of that unit as you may cause problems if you are seen to do so.

Why would it be a problem to take photos? *genuine interest* ETA: I thought the secure unit had been closed

It was very much open last time I was there, I'm not sure of it's status now. I've photographed three prisons now.Manchester Strangeways was ok considering the listed building status of the gate house and admin block. We got followed around the perimeter of Wakefield prison until we left the area by guards in a van. And outside Armley we were made to feel non to welcome either.

As I said, I thought it had closed. Fair enough if it hasn't. But by the way, why should one be fearful if it's open? Who's going to come after you? Again, genuine interest.

Are there laws against taking photos of secure units?

What does this mean? Are you saying that security staff working [effectively] in the public service would go around beating up photographers?

Are you saying that security staff working [effectively] in the public service would go around beating up photographers? I'm sure you've read the papers, and seen the news about people being arrested, and intimidated for taking photos of their children in shopping centres, people taking photos of iconic London landmarks and being accused of being terrorists e.t.c. The list is endlessI'm a photographer not a terrorist websitehttp://photographernotaterrorist.org/If such innocent things like that can lead to some unpleasant situations, then taking photographs around prisons, and secure units is a good bet you'd find that out for yourself     I know those naughty boys up at Eastmoor are a little camera shy too, they are non too keen to have their photograph taken through the fencing, hence the tales of torrid abuse, and colourful language from said little angels aimed at anyone walking around the perimeter fence. As Leodian states..... it's perhaps wiser to not take photographs of the place.
