Being kept awake by a HUGE tropical storm last night, and being in that half asleep/half awake mode, my mind for some bizarre reason started to think of my childhood in Bramley .... and the times when I was 8 or 9 playing 'Fire Engines' on my push bike with my pals ... and I realised I couldn't remember where the fire station was in Bramley. I am pretty sure there was one, and I know from Google earth there is a new(ish) one on Stanningley Road near Bramley Town End, but where was situated in the 60's?I can remember the one on Stanningley Road near Cockshott Lane, and the Pudsey one near Pudsey park.So was there ever a fire station actually in Bramley, or do my childhood memories deceive me?

Surely the one at the top of Cockshott Lane was the Bramley fire station. I'm sure we used to call it that, when arranging to meet there, as kids.

I think that might be Greggs on Stanningley Rd nr Bramley Town EndThe new Fire St. is on Stanningley Rd jct with Swinnow Lane.As chrism says the one at top of Cockshott Lane was classed as Bramley FS.

The one at top Cockshot Lane, was the old fire station when i was a nipper in 70's and 80's it closed down when they built the main one at Stanningley Bottom, they used it for a bit in Steel River Blues TV drama Series and now is a Safety centre. Weenie

Thanks for that guys - and now I am worried about the state of my memory - I was sure there was a station somewhere more central to Bramley - ah well, old age I guess!!As it happens, the new station near Swinnow Lane IS but a stone's throw from where I lived - opposite the Brown Cow ... !

I found a site about the old fire station at http://www.firewestyorkshire.com/safety ... ramley.htm This one opened in 1948 but there must have been an even older one somewhere.

If the link is copied without the final full stop then pasted into a website finder it then brings up the website. I hope that helps. That's it - missed it! I've amended the link in mhoulden's post to avoid confusionJust to make it clear chameleon, the "That's it - missed it! I've amended the link in mhoulden's post to avoid confusion:)" was not done by me. Only the "If the link is copied without the final full stop then pasted into a website finder it then brings up the website. I hope that helps." was mine!
