My first time publishing a link here so forgive me if this doesn't work right..."Cliffordstead" has published this photo on Flickr:http://goo.gl/BZsQHIt's a view of Woodpecker junction some time in the 1960s. I'm intrigued by the buildings in front St Patrick's church. There are three discrete premises in one terraced block. I was only very little at the time the photo was taken and only have a vague memory of what was there. I have a feeling that the centre and right-hand side premises were shops. The one on the left was, I think, a GP surgery.I have a dim recollection of being taken to see the doctor around here on a few occassions. Was this the place? Was it perhaps where doctors Stanton and Brown worked before they moved up to Lincoln Green?Also, who occupied the shops (if that's what they were) next door? I have the faintest memory of a greengrocer but I would only have been between 2 and 4 years old so I'm very unsure.Can anyone enlighten me?

Blooms the Chemist was nearer the Woodpecker Junction.Stanton and Brown, I believe joined up with Sinson and Irving, who were also on Burmantofts St, to move to the new health centre.

Following your recollection, I found this:http://goo.gl/Xbzv8It appears that Irving and Sinson did indeed occupy premises further up Burmantofts Street (their front door can be seen on the right-hand side of the photo). This leaves me confused though. Did doctors Stanton and Brown occupy the same premises?Moving up Burmantofts Street a short distance, another photo reveals this:http://goo.gl/YUnCMIrving and Sinson's door is now on the left. To the right is a greengrocer's shop. This corresponds with my original memory of Stanton and Brown's surgery being near to a grocer; does this partially confirm that all the GPs were in the same building?

Didn't realise the shops survided so long.Quarry Hill flats are still there and the 'new'schoolAgnes Stewart is there as well.

Hope this is some use.Info from the British Phone Books.Dr M Stanton. 5 Burmantofts Steet from at least 1960 till 1970 previously at 34 Springfield Street Leeds 9 in 1955 and in 1980 at 1 Cromwell Mount Leeds 9

Number 5 Burmantofts Street is the building I mentioned in my original post! The photo found here:http://goo.gl/r7c8B- which was originally located by Geordie Exile (see above) has some accompanying text stating that it was a branch of the Midland Bank! Could this be wrong?Assuming the British Phone Book is right, then we have surgeries at both nos: 5 and 21 Burmantofts Street.Anyone have a clear memory either way?

Around 1970 my dad sold cigs, chocolate bars and papers out of his volkswagon van after coming off the W.H.Smiths night train shift from Manchester with the papers, where those shops were.I seem to recall they were pulled down, but the demand for the cigs, papers and choccy bars was high so the council allowed a temporary kiosk to sell this stuff to workers walking into Leeds from the inner city suburbs.I think the man in the kiosk couldn't pay his rent so he was shut down and my dad nipped in with his van from 6-9 (and probably never got caught as the officials wouldn't have been around 6-9)Great stuff.....

Well that is a surprise. I really didn't think Stanton was that close to the Woodpecker Junction although the dates are right for when I was a patient.I seem to recall it being more of a converted house than a shop-like structure. I'll ask me Dad tomorrow - he'll remember.
