SecretLeeds - History, culture and architecture in Leeds

Just a quick note after noticing this, this evening - It was very sad to see the big old factory just off Scott Hall Road (also accessible via Buslingthorpe Lane) up in blazes. I think it used to be a clothing factory but seemed to have been derelict for many years. Driving past, it didn't look like there was much of it left and you could see the devastating flames from miles away.Seemed pretty serious as Scott Hall Road, Buslingthorpe Lane and some of the Potternewtons were closed off this evening.

That would be a building in the recently confirmed histroical conservation area of buslingthorpe?    

I thought so Cardiarms. Theres a big cluster of buildings around there, including St Anne's Training Services, there's a very old building on the end of that. There's also a big old derelict house towards the end of Buslingthorpe Lane, as if you were heading toward Meanwood Road.

Whilst looking at the buildings along Bus Lane on Google Maps I came across this place.Would you seriously consider taking your car here for repairs?

He was actually a very friendly bloke when I went in there. He let me look around the yard with the camera. And it looks a profesional set up once inside. I think it's the old adage 'Never judge a book by it's cover' here

If that is the one which has recently been offered for sale Simon, I think it is some way away and should be save. Bit close to the area's main sub-station though.

T drove along Buslingthorpe Lane last Friday (looking for Harratts the Volvo dealership) and was appalled at the delapidated state of the entire road. I think there was a clothing factory (maybe called Browns) in the 50's siuated just before Meanwood Road. Just below the large building at the start of Sott Hall Road, there used to be an alley that lead to Meanwood Road. Locally it was known as 'Stinking Alley' due to the smell coming from the adjoining leather works. The Scott Hall Road entrance seems to be sealed off now. I'm always looking for places of interest to visit when I come to Leeds for the day with my brother-in-law from Northallerton and this is just such a location. An other is the railway line that runs through a cemetry opposite the bus station.

Munki and Dunki the skulls would have had a great view of the conflagration wouldn't they?Is the Dyson building still to let by the way? I worry about the two lads just disappearing one night...
