My grandad (born in Leeds, 1899), recalled seeing Harry Houdini do his underwater escape trick off Leeds Bridge. A Houdini expert tells me it would have been February 1914, most likely, given grandad's age - although he had no record of the Leeds bridge thing, only that Houdini appeared that week at the Leeds Empire.Apparently he often did the bridge thing as pre-show publicity.Anyone know anything about Houdini in Leeds? My grandad would have told us about this in 1970 and he died in 1971. So I have never been able to find out more.At a later point my grandad knew one of Houdini's locksmiths (I'm assuming, one of several he used when touring the UK). All I recall him saying is it was a Derbyshire man.I would love to know more about Houdini in Leeds. Anyone know anything?

Yep. Thought I'd post here and hopefully get more replies! I don't think it was the earlier tour, as my grandad was around 15 or so.

acccording to this timeline:http://www.leeds.ac.uk/downloads/timeline.pdfIt would be 1911 and involved tetleys brewery challenging him to escape from a sealed cask!
