Re: Burley Bar Stone - and the rest
In the 'Monday Retro' part on page 22 of the Yorkshire Evening Post (YEP) today (Oct 29 2018) under its 'A-Z of Leeds' feature the topic today relates to the old Bar Stones and specifically (being for the letter N) the 'North Bar Stone'. In the YEP article about that it states the North Bar "is hidden from view but is housed in the old West Yorkshire bus station ticket office". Oh no it's not! It has been easily seen on the Vicar Lane frontage ever since jim reported on Secret Leeds on Wed 23 Jul, 2014 4:02 pm "STOP PRESS! I was passing the North Bar Stone site at 13.50 this afternoon - and the wooden cladding is being removed and the Stone is now visible once more!". It was certainly still there when I passed by during last week. It is though no surprise that the YEP did not bother to check!

i think it would be a good idea to place some sort of protection around it.You never know if some idiot wants to deface it, there are some idiots about and history means nothing to them.

Wow time does pass by fast! I've just realised that it's now just over 10 years since the North Bar Stone was exposed (see the post by jim on Wednesday July 23 2014 on page 30).
