On page 6 of today's YEP there is a brief article about the recent restoration of Thornton's Arcade that runs off Briggate.I was in that Arcade yesterday and it is very much brighter now than it was. The work seems to have been excellent. I like Thornton's Arcade. I particularly like the presumably old paving stone floor that is also non-slip unlike the very slippy nearby Queens's Arcade that has a sort of tiled floor. If it works (and it never has before when I try to post image! ) there is a photo below that I took on July 22nd 2010 during the restoration.

http://www.secretleeds.co.uk/forum/Mess ... readID=645 Thanks chameleon. I've just looked at the link. I doubt I would have guessed Thornton's Arcade. The restoration has maintained the colours well, as can be seen in the image here that I took on July 22nd 2010.

It's always struck me as odd that there isn't a branch of Thorntons in Thorntons Arcade. Surely it's the idea place for it?Perhaps if they were to read this and decide to open a branch there, they could have the official opening performed by Frank Thornton?

Here's another attempt to post the image that I managed not to post in my post at 17:16:36. I think I may be getting post post-depression!

That made me smile and has got me wondering about Queen's Arcade.
