I think it might be one of the reservoirs near Hawksworth (Guiseley, not Horsforth). Not sure which one though.

Till I read that it was 'near Bradford', I thought it was an odd angle photo of a section of the old (& very wet!) banking at Brooklands - the motor-racing circuit, not the estate near Seacroft!! simong wrote: I think it might be one of the reservoirs near Hawksworth (Guiseley, not Horsforth). Not sure which one though. Thanks for the suggestion, but having looked at them on the aeriel view on 'Multi-Map', they appear to be earthern in construction (Reva reservoir)I even considered one of the ponds/dams at Esholt Sewerage Works as a possibilty

Think you could well be right, looking at it via the 'birds-eye' feature on 'Multi-Map', there is definately a banking of sorts to the south-west corner. Thanks, I knew that someone on here would come up trumps

I've been informed that it's not the place in question.Sadly there's no clues forthcoming, save that it's on the 'old' Goggle Earth maps

It certainly looks like a reservoir but with very low water levels, so it may not look like it does in the image in normal weather. It would be interesting to know where it is.

The pictures in question look like a bigger version of this war-time static water tank seen under construction near the market.
