Does anyone remember years ago going to Armley baths for theSchool Gala,I remember my mum and sisters coming to watch metake part in the swimming and diving. The Balcony in the Big Pool was full of proud parents and screaming siblings,I have often wondered how many spectators this would accomodate,my estimate 120-140 maybe a good guess. There also was Armley Water Polo team who used to play against teams from all over Leeds & District again bringing supporters to watch. The reason among other things I mention this is becauseI went swimming the other day with the wife to Armley SportsCentre and to my absolute amazement there is NO Balcony.Thereis a Viewing Area with 20 chairs.I don't know how much the Centre cost to build but surely the Designers should have incorporated a decent sized Balconyfor events to be watched by more than just a handful of spectators. I would also like to mention that the changing rooms are Mixed as are the Showers. Now i'm no prude but surely this is notto everyones taste and to be honest I reckon it puts people off. Unfortunately the wife wasn't impressed and is adamant she will not be going again.

www.secretleeds.com/forum/Messages.aspx ... D=2516Does seem to have been a major design mistake. I recall going to Armley baths as a kid and sitting in the balcony after swimming eating Ritz biscuits of all things. Made it a much more social event for parents and friends.
