Lamberts Yard and the oldest timber framed house in Leeds

There was an item on the radio yesterday (I didn't hear of it till this morning) saying that such a building has been lying in a derelict condition "in a yard off Lower Briggate" for years. This is news to me, and interesting too, so does anyone please know anything about it ??

It's in Lamberts Yard, that's the last yard as you go DOWN Briggate on the left hand side just before the railway bridge. There's some pix on Leodis, put Lamberts Yard into the search box. Phil might have some too.

You can really get the feel of the old trading and commerce north of (the previous) Leeds Bridge from the look of the house. I imagine that I must have walked past it hundreds of times when the yard was an open route, but it never registered for some reason. I shall at least peer into the yard when I'm passing next time. Thanks again for the quick response.

The yard has been locked for a few years - I think someone should really look into why and on whose authority- I would have thought that it would be a public right of way and so the locking of it might be illegal.

There's a picture on 'Wikipedia' of Lamberts YardIt doesn't give any indication of when it was taken though(see the 1600-1800 section)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Architecture_of_Leeds
