Just heard on Look North News this lunchtime. The government is to give the council £10 million towards the cost. A pratt from Sheffeid council said it was a public scandal that Leeds should get this cash! Can you believe the cheek of this fellow, in view of all the money Sheffield has had over the years.I bet he was gloating when the Govt. said we couldn't go ahead with Supertram.

Yes i hope they stew in their own juicees.Noticed the the preceding item on Look North, the Sheffield sporting facilities we can only dream of,paid for by the public purse. At one time i would have been happy for our arena to compliment the Sheffield one.Now i want it to be screwed into the ground,as Ravey Davey says, they brought it on themselves.

Good news at last and hopefully this means work will get into it's stride very soon.As you say it was ironic at the very least to see the sporting facilities in Sheffield, all paid for by the taxpayer, on the same bulletin as some herbert from Sheffield was moaning about us having a few quid for an arena. Also on the news and on a related note, Yorkshire Forward are providing £millions for the refurbishment fo Scarborough Spa including the theatre there. I wonder if we should all complain that this will attract audiences away from The Grand and the West Yorkshire Playhouse?

No mate, because we are magnanamous in Leeds,we dont mind ayone getting on if its deserved.Whereas the city of Sheffield will probably complain that a seaside town will have an effect on the Sheffield City Hall.Ive said it before, they are used to getting every scrap of money going, and when they sniff some finance that might be sloshing around they believe they should have it.Its like the Big Issue sellers in town, complaining when some other needy/worthy Big Issue seller sets up within their pitch.why should they get a share ?any way,i upset a Sheffield fella the other week, told him he was from the Midlands, not Yorkshire!!Its weird to think that Sheffield now rates lower than Manchester in my personal preferences.Sorry simonm, but there really is nothing worse than being shat on by yer supposed own.

Saw the news with some politico bleating about Leeds not deserving public money as if their poverty justified everything they got an everbody else gets nothing.
