There's a coffer dam on the canal at the Redcote Lane bridge. About 20 yards of the canal has been drained. I saw it last night but it was too dark to see what was going. Anybody know?

Maybe they're just having a dredge or the navvy may have sprung a leak.

They often close it in November for maintenance. Last year a substantial section was drained for this.

My first post! I cycle along the canal quite a lot from Horsforth into Leeds so I know it quite well. According to the British Waterways website here's what's going on:02 Nov 2009 - 19 Dec 2009Stoppage: Between Lock 6 East and Lock 7 East to allow repair to Redcote CulvertAssociated Regional Office: North West WaterwaysRedcote culvert major repair works to culvert running under canal, canal will be closed by dams for safety reasons, towpath will remain open.Winding at River Lock and below Bridge 214 Millman Swing BridgeThat said, the towpath is closed but it's easy to go round.

Thanks. They had trouble with that culvert a few years back but on the otherside of the power station bit. It decided to emere from the fottings of the railway bridge and flood all the way down to Goals.
