O.K. - I am the first to confess I might be going ever so slightly mad, might even have a serious case of forgetfulness creeping on or might just go around with my eyes shut most of the time - however,Whilst sitting in City square yesterday, waiting for the taxi's to move and allow me to go about my buisness I started looking around City Square and I noticed, for the first time it seems that between each of the little statuettes of females holding torches there is a balustrade made out of what appears to be marble. Now have these always been there or are they a recent addition to the Square or have they always been there ? It's just that I can't recall them and seem to remember the Square being far more open than it appears now.As I said, probably the on set of old age LOL

city square was remodelled 7 or 8 years ago when they put in the fountains. According to the YEP at the time the statues (including the black prince) are now positioned back to how they were in the victorian era - when the post office was built. this includes the ballustrades (which were taken down in the war when the area was converted to an above ground air raid shelter)

i dont think Black Prince has moved, i think its a bit of the road around the front of him thats widend, and the statuettes athat have been placed differently to what they were, if you look on google earth now its in the shape of half moon in front of the old post office. where as the pic on leodis is a full circle.
