It's been a while since I've visited here but I thought I would visit to let everyone know about the reclaiming of Royal Park School that is currently going on, as I thought there may be many people on here who are interested. The building, which has been neglected by the council for years, has been reclaimed by a group of individuals from the local community who are doing their best to prevent the building from falling into further disrepair. They are carrying out essential repairs and opening it up as a centre for the community. This weekend there has already been an open day and a jumble sale, with many members of the public coming along and showing their support, including ex-teachers and pupils of the school. If you knew and loved this building and would like to see what is being done to keep it for the benefit community, or just want the opportunity to have a nosy around a fascinating old building, please do drop by and see us.

Ah, I just watched this on BBC Look North and was about to post about it, but looks as though I was beaten to it again! Just found this, thought it would be interesting for people who are interested in the Royal Park Primary School: (...And amazingly, it isn't a Phil Davison production!)http://www.flickr.com/photos/endotEnjoy!

Apparently the bulldozers started work on this beautiful old building today. Absolute bloody scandal.
